Haz-Mat Truck

Marion Fire Department Haz-Mat Team was started in 1992 and was the first team started in the state of Indiana. With great vision from now retired Asst. Chief Mike Bigler the team can handle calls from tanker trucks that had been involved in accidents to any type of industrial accident involving chemicals or hydrocarbons.

There are currently 23 members on the team that cover all three shifts, this way team members on a shift can handle small spills. Team members do have to maintain training hours during the year to keep up with changes and new equipment.

Haz-Mat team does have a Haz-Mat truck and a 24 foot trailer. The truck and most of the equipment was purchased with grant money, this was very helpful because of the tight budget that the City has. The Haz-Mat truck is station at firehouse #2 and 10th and Miller Ave.
