Police Department

A Message From The Chief Of Police:

Dear Citizens:

I am pleased and excited to communicate with you in this setting about my department, the 73 professional police officers you employ, the positive impact on crime these officers are producing, and the quality services we provide everyday. It is very important that the people we work for - citizens like you - understand exactly what the department is capable of. It is with this in mind that I would like to tell you about some of the innovative programs that might be of interest to you that are in addition to the excellent traditional police services you expect from us.

As you view our site you will see descriptive information about programs like the MPD Citizens Police Academy, the department's Police Athletic League (PAL Club), the Personal Safety for Women Seminar, and our own innovative MPD Youth Academy. We even host a Facebook page where you can get the most up to date information and interact with MPD Officers in real time. Interesting and useful programs like these are critical to the success of the police department in terms of positive relationships with the community. These relationships and the information exchanged provide the foundation for the reduction of crime and our citizens' sense of safety.

I should tell you also that I understand very well that we can always improve. The Marion Police Department consists of some of the finest officers, dispatchers, and civilian staff in Indiana, and yet we strive to get better each day. Because we understated and accept the challenge to show real progress, I encourage you to offer any suggestions to improve our service. I hope you will take a moment to browse our site and to contact my office if any of theses programs might benefit you or your organization or if you have any question about this fine department. Thank you for your attention and, on behalf of the officers of the Marion Police Department, we look forward to serving you.
