Information Technologies

The Department of Information Technologies is responsible for the transmission and storage of information, especially the development, installation, implementation, and management of computer systems for the departments of the city's municipal buildings. We are also responsible for the installation and maintenance of the city's WiFi and Fiber Optic Distribution networks.
 
The City of Marion is an OC-3 Fiber Optic HUT managing the distribution of up to 155 Megabits of Internet traffic with a maximum capacity of 930 Megabits. The department assists in the development of jobs and the support of those companies that provide the environment for jobs and job growth.

The Information Technologies Department manages a Local Area Network consisting of over 19 Servers with 245 Users. We also manage over 16 Terabytes of stored data, e-mail services, and public information services including this Web-Site.
The City Hall Data Center is located within the Marion Municipal Building at 301 South Branson Street. It includes 12 remote locations and support for multiple Municipal and shared Grant County facilities.
 
Public Distribution Network
 
In addition to the support of municipal business, the Department of Information Technology is responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the city's Wireless and Fiber Optic distribution networks.
The City of Marion provides both Internet and point-to-point connectivity for many of the citizens and business located within the city's boundaries.
